When words become redundant due to thaw / Day

Ginta Smuka’s concert program will consist of compositions from his second album Thaw and the first debut album Flourish, as well as arrangements of compositions by Latvian and foreign authors.

“Album Thaw At the opening concert on the evening of July 31, peace and quiet reigned on Lake Raiskums, and the repertoire was subordinated to this peace with melancholic and calm melodies. In the next concert series, I will allow to introduce visitors to a more expressive guitar finger style, as I got to know when traveling to Canada and the United States, learning from world instrumentalists and sharing stories about guitar finger style culture across the ocean, “Gints Smukais reveals in concert.

Some of the concerts in the series will be joined by the Music Awards of the Year as a special guest Gold microphone nominee Kaspars Niklasons – album Thaw producer and Ginta ‘s friend and colleague for 18 years, who, playing acoustic guitar in tandem with Ginta, will give each piece a calligraphic sound subtlety.

Listening to Gints Smukas’ virtuoso guitar playing, one cannot sense that he has learned it on his own. Since the age of 13, he has purposefully practiced the so-called finger playing technique, which allows the guitar to be used as a very versatile instrument, including as a sophisticated percussion instrument. Since 2011, Gints Smukais has also been composing and giving solo concerts, as well as collaborating with singers (Miku Dukuru, Musiqq, Annija Putniņš, Latvian Voices etc.), choirs (Mask), other guitarists (Rihards Lībieti, Kaspars Niklasons), dance groups (Buras, Avikk Parkour). Gints is inspired by the desire to increase the understanding of the beauty of instrumental music and the joy of creativity. Last fall, he won both 3rd place in the world’s largest acoustic guitar finger competition in Winfield, Kansas Walnut Valley) and 3rd at the International Acoustic Guitar Finger Festival in Arkansas.
