It was his first and only appearance at the Mainfrankenmesse, whose hall soon had to be closed due to overcrowding. Thomas Gottschalk came to Würzburg in 1985 wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt. Before his show, he appeared in a good mood in the main Franconian lunch magazine. There, according to Gottschalk, he announced the Main Valley singers from Marktbreit with their Franconian song “Mei Schatz des is a Schlamperer.” It then sounded like this: “Action, ladies and gentlemen, live from Würzburg, die Maintalsänger, the Main-Valley-Singers, my darling is a mess.”
