When Putin lectured on history, things went wrong. Brave student took to the counter.

The new commission will ensure that Russia’s history is interpreted correctly.

Russian President Vladimir Putin lectured on the history of a school class in Vladivostok. It was not quite according to plan.

On September 1, President Vladimir Putin was in the far east of Russia. At a school in Vladivostok, Putin began lecturing on history to students. It did not go quite as he had intended.

Putin talked about how Russia has always been surrounded by enemies, but that the Russians fight back and win when the country is attacked.

“History is not only an interesting and important subject, but it is the basis of all human knowledge,” Putin said, according to Russian media.

The president referred to the battle of Poltava in 1709 when the Russians defeated the Swedes. Putin called it the Seven Years’ War.

Then a 17-year-old student took the floor and corrected the president. The student said that the battle is called the Great Nordic War, and that it lasted for 21 years.

It was not graciously received by the principal at the school.
