When and how the emergency brake is pulled – southwest

If 50 people per 100,000 inhabitants of a district are tested positive within a week, the restrictions should return. What is the current status in South Baden?

If more than 50 people per 100,000 inhabitants in a municipality or district are tested positive for the corona virus within a week, then the “emergency brake” should be pulled and social life should be restricted again. The federal and state governments decided on Wednesday. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) supports the rule.

In southern Baden, all counties are currently well below the limit. That was very different, especially in the first week of April. In the seven days before April 4, there were 127 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, 125 in Emmendingen and 118 in Freiburg. If the rule decided by the federal and state governments had applied since the pandemic started, according to BZ calculations, it would have taken 26 days in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, 12 days in the Emmendingen district, 27 days in Freiburg, 9 days in the Ortenau district, 15 days in the Lörrach district and one week in the Waldshut district.

Health authorities play a central role in enforcement because they record the number of cases. The federal government and the federal states want the offices to use a team of five people for every 20,000 inhabitants to track contacts. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, 555 teams with 2,775 people are needed in Baden-Württemberg. Most recently, 2400 employees were deployed. The Stuttgart Ministry of Social Affairs emphasizes that the health authorities can accomplish their tasks to contain the pandemic with the current staff.
