WhatsApp also clarified this on its official support page and noted, “No one will have their accounts deleted or lose WhatsApp functionality on May 15 because of this update.”
The messaging app says a majority of users have already accepted the privacy policy. While those who have not faced any action, but receive regular notifications about it. “We will continue to display a notification in WhatsApp providing more information about the update and reminding those who haven’t had a chance to do so to review and accept,” WhatsApp said on its support page. He also said these reminders will not be “persistent and will not limit the functionality of the app.”
For a few months now, there has been a lot of back and forth from WhatsApp regarding its privacy policy. Earlier this year, WhatsApp introduced a new privacy policy that got users hooked. The instant messaging app postponed the date to May 15 as it saw a kind of exodus to rival apps like Signal and Telegram.
