WhatsApp will add functions related to iOS 15

It is possible to use WhatsApp on an iPhone running iOS 15, but the app does not support all features. That’s about to change, as evidenced by an ongoing beta test.

Full iOS 15 support is coming for WhatsApp

Version 22.7.0.76 of WhatsApp’s app enables official support for two iOS 15 features, namely notification-level profile pictures and focus mode support. Some users can already take advantage of this because WhatsApp has tinkered with its application with “unofficial” support. Soon, everyone will have the right to do so without any worries.

There is also a change in the bottom bar of the application where we find the tabs for status, calls, camera, discussions and settings. This bar now goes completely black, instead of having a slightly gray background as seen in a screenshot of WABetaInfo. This change will only be visible to people with iOS 15, those with iOS 14 or earlier will still have the slight gray background.

Overall, the update will feature better support for iOS 15, with fixes and various optimizations. It’s surprising that WhatsApp has taken so long, given the popularity of messaging. As a reminder, the final version of iOS 15 has been available for six months.

An availability date for the final version of the WhatsApp application with full support for iOS 15 has not yet been revealed. But it should be a matter of weeks.
