WhatsApp to stop working on these devices – Android 4.1 and lower, and iOS 12 or later

2001 – Caracas, April 26, 2023. The most used instant messaging application in the world, WhatsApp, every month since December 2022 stops working on some devices that have been on the market for a long time.

In the same way, although WhatsApp is compatible with Android and iOS phones, it is updated from time to time and this improvement causes the app to stop working correctly or completely on some devices considered ‘obsolete’.

Likewise, the application has more than 2 billion users, well ahead of Telegram, which only has 700 million.

When will WhatsApp be updated?

In the coming days, the application will be updated to offer new tools and improve certain ‘bugs’ that it usually has. However, this means that it will stop working properly on some smartphones.

Why is this happening? WhatsApp stops working precisely because of the lack of maintenance or technical support received by equipment that has been on the market for many years.

What phones will no longer be supported?

WhatsApp reported that cell phones that have Android 4.1 or lower will no longer be compatible. In the case of iPhones, you must have a version of iOS 12 or later.
