The read receipt
When you receive a message from one of your contacts, different checkmarks appear behind it. Their number and color is crucial, because they send different messages to your contact. A gray check mark means that the message has been sent. Two gray check marks mean that the message has arrived. Two blue ticks mean that the recipient has read the message.
If you do not want to send a read receipt, go to the settings. account. data protection and deselects the read confirmation there. This means that the recipient will no longer see blue ticks once you have read the message.
Stiftung Warentest also recommends that you revoke Whatsapp’s authorization, track your location or have access to your photos or videos.
