WhatsApp Rolls Out Screen Sharing Feature: UI Updates and Landscape Mode

SERVICE video chat (video call) has been quite popular since a few years ago, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite their popularity, in-person meetings are more common now, various applications are still widely used and these applications are competing to offer unparalleled convenience to their users.

Quoted from XDA-Developers, Tuesday (8/8), these various applications have evolved over time, offering a variety of good features. So it makes sense that WhatsApp as one of the best messaging apps will adopt some of the features of the video chatting app to its own.

Previously, in May 2023, XDA-Developers had reported about testing the screen sharing feature (share screen) which has arrived in the beta version of WhatsApp, and now it looks like the company made by Meta has finally released the feature to all users and is now starting to roll out to Android, iOS, and Windows users.

The news was first reported by TechCrunch who got information from the company CEO Meta Mark Zuckerberg, who shared the new feature in a post on his Facebook account.

The post was short and to the point, showing an image of the new screen sharing feature rolling out to the WhatsApp app.

Meanwhile, the upload also shows video calls being made in landscape mode. What’s so great about share screen using WhatsApp is to allow users to choose between sharing the view of a specific application or showing the entire screen.

Another big feature that is also making its debut is landscape mode for video calling (landscape video call). While it would be nice to see more of the caller in this mode, it might come in handy when someone is sharing the screen, offering more screen space to show the caller’s face, and widening out content while sharing the screen.

As previously stated, this feature is now rolling out to users but in stages, so if you haven’t seen this feature yet, you should be patient. If you have never tried WhatsApp before, be sure to give it a try, because WhatsApp is available on almost all types of mobile devices, Android, Apple, Windows and can facilitate communication with friends or colleagues.
