WhatsApp makes native macOS client available in beta

Anyone using a Mac with an Apple chip on board can now download the beta version of WhatsApp instead of the traditional web application.

WhatsApp is making available a native macOS application that is compatible with the new Apple M1 and M2 chips. The only requirement is that you are running at least macOS 11 Big Sur. Anyone using a Mac with an Intel chip can also use the WhatsApp client via the Apple Catalyst app.

The macOS application is already being developed tested since July by a select number of users via the Apple Testflight platform. Now WhatsApp is making the client available to all users. You can do it dmg file from their site.

WhatsApp emphasizes that the app is in beta, with all the potential problems that come with it. Anyone who has a bad experience can still turn to the web version of the communication platform, which remains available.

Meta, parent company of WhatsApp, is not yet sharing a date for the stable release of the macOS application.

Earlier today it became known that WhatsApp is working on a feature to share high-resolution photos. WhatsApp is constantly evolving. It added another one late last year undo button to delete messages. It’s also working on a feature where you messages can only be displayed once, but it has not yet been rolled out to the public. Those who are forgetful can also do it since last year send messages to themselves in WhatsApp as memory.
