WhatsApp shouldn’t be happy about that! Telegram has announced new features for the “group video calls” function. 1,000 contacts can now take part in these, the messenger announced on its blog.
However, only 30 of the participants can share a video signal in the call, the other contacts can only watch. According to Telegram, the new feature should be suitable for online lectures, for example.
WhatsApp only allows video chats with up to 8 contacts
With the “Group video calls 2.0” function, Telegram’s competitor WhatsApp clearly stands out. This still only allows a maximum of 8 participants in a group video call. Recently, however, the possibility of joining an ongoing call was added later.
