WhatsApp: how to type messages using voice commands

Both on Android phones and iPhone, it is possible to use voice commands to type. The feature, in addition to improving accessibility, works in several situations, such as saving notes and reminders, for example.

1. At first, you need to activate the dictation function on iOS (if the function is already activated on your device, go to step 3). To do this, go to the path: Settings > General > Keyboard;

2. On the next screen, tap on the option “Enable dictation” and, as in the example below, confirm the request by tapping on “Enable dictation” again.

3. Open WhatsApp and tap on the message input field. Then tap the microphone icon at the bottom of the keyboard to use the feature.

4. Finally, just start talking. Note that you can even follow the typing of messages in real time before sending them.

How to use the feature on Android

1. On Android, simply open a WhatsApp conversation and tap the microphone icon on the keyboard (not to be confused with the audio recording microphone icon present in the app).

2. If you are using dictation for the first time, you may need to allow access to your mobile phone’s microphone. In the end, like on the iPhone, just speak and follow the keystroke.
