No! The message shared via WhatsApp is misinformation. In fact, there was a corresponding action by individual churches in Germany. But this took place on Thursday, March 3, at 12 noon.
The origin of the chain letter cannot be traced back. The chain letter was discovered by Katholisch.de, the portal of the Catholic Church. According to the report, corresponding calls have been circulating on Messenger since at least Wednesday.
Different variants in circulation
The wording varies, but a bell ringing for 8 p.m. is always announced without a date. You are also asked to turn off the light to “show Putin that we’d rather sit in the dark than buy his gas and oil,” the chain letter continues, according to the portal.
You will also be asked to forward the WhatsApp message. The messenger had recently restricted this function in order to limit the spread of false information through chain letters about its service.
