What is the treatment for headaches during the initial days of Ramadan?

Headache on the first days of Ramadan is the most common complaint among fasting people, and people usually get it before breaking the fast, which causes great tension and anxiety, because during the day you cannot take any medicine to relieve pain. Knowing the causes of headaches in Ramadan, how to get rid of them, and continue fasting in the best health condition?

Dr. Farhat Fadloun explained in an interview with Sky News Arabia that headache and thirst are among the most common phenomena among fasting people at the beginning of Ramadan, and they are two natural things that the fasting person feels due to the transition from normal life to the fasting stage, due to some factors and changes that accompany the start of fasting. They can be treated with simple and easy-to-implement methods thanks to a careful diet that avoid this complaint.

Headache treatment

Dr. Fadloun advised those who are fasting:

The need to eat healthy and balanced food, which must contain proteins, healthy fats, and an adequate amount of carbohydrates, sugar, and starches.

Make sure to drink at least 10 glasses of water, in addition to healthy fluids in sufficient quantity, during the Iftar and Suhoor meals.

Do not neglect the pre-dawn meal, as it is very necessary for the fasting person as it provides the body with the energy it needs during the long hours of fasting.

The need to sleep for a sufficient number of hours, and it is better not to be less than 7 hours a day, so that the fasting person avoids insomnia and stress.

Getting rid of thirst

With regard to the feeling of thirst during fasting during the day in Ramadan, Dr. Fadloun stressed that the high temperature and some wrong eating habits play a major role in the feeling of thirst, and therefore accurate advice must be followed in order to overcome this feeling of thirst during the hours of fasting.

He advised eating fresh vegetables and fruits, and foods that contain good amounts of water and fiber so that they stay for a long time in the intestines, and thus reduce the feeling of hunger and thirst, in addition to drinking water at intermittent periods of the night.

He also stressed the need to avoid salty foods and foods, pickles and salty cheese, explaining that these foods increase the body’s need for water and thus cause a feeling of thirst.
