The central government has proposed that the province be the territorial scope on which the different phases of the unconfinement develop, although the autonomous communities can raise other possibilities geographic. The Xunta de Galicia defends that this area is the health area. Both territories do not cover the same municipalities, so the possibilities of mobility would not be the same.
How many sanitary areas are there in the province?
In the province of A Coruña we have three different sanitary areas that correspond to the three major cities: that of Ferrol to the north, Coruña-Cee in the center and Santiago-Barbanza to the south.
How far does A Coruña – Cee cover?
The health area of A Coruña-Cee extends from municipalities bordering Lugo, such as Sobrado or Aranga, to Fisterra; Miño and Vilarmaior are the bordering municipalities to the north, Cercerda to the south. This area is also divided into a specific district for a dozen municipalities on the Costa da Morte, whose reference hospital is the Virxe da Xunqueira de Cee. The province has more than 90 municipalities, health area 37, including those of the Costa da Morte.
What are the reasons given by the Xunta?
This division by areas contemplates, as the Xunta defends, more specific data on the available health resources and the incidence of the coronavirus, but it would mean reducing the limits to mobility until we reach the last phase. We could not travel, for example, to Pontedeume, Ferrol, Ordes or Santiago, with few exceptions as until now. One of these, for work reasons.
