Tires are an important part of the car’s entire suspension system, absorbing shocks and significantly affecting driving characteristics. But what exactly happens inside while driving? The inquisitive behind the YouTube channel was looking for an answer to this inquisitive question Warped Perception.
They attached a small camera to a single-wheel drive, put on a tire, and recorded passage through leaky and smooth streets in a Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG.
The result is a bit predictable, yet quite interesting. The shots show how the tire does its job. How significantly it changes shape when the car runs on unevenness even at low speeds. How he “dances” at higher speeds and how he beats himself during a wild corner. You can see small dirt flying under the mantle, and the soundstage is also interesting.
If you want to see the footage from inside the tire straight away and skip the preparations, move the video to the beginning of the 5th minute (4:05).
At 3:05 you can see footage of the tire being inflated. At 6:04, a sharp turn. At the very end, you can see what happens when the air is released.
