What economic and other changes to expect on July 1

A number of changes come into force in our country from July 1. We briefly present some of them.

Pensions are increasing

From the beginning of July with whole 45% the pensions of more than 50,200 disabled children and adults who receive a social disability pension are increased. By law, its amount is determined depending on the social pension for old age, the Ministry of Social Affairs announced. The increase in the social old-age pension will increase the size of all non-work-related pensions. Among them are military and civilian disability pensions and personal pension. The amounts of statutory pension supplements, which are received by nearly 65,000 people, will also increase.

The minimum pension is also boosts by 10% and it will be BGN 467. The Parliament finally approved the update of the budget of the State Public Insurance Company (DOO) for 2022 and finally increased the amount of pensions by 10% + BGN 60. The minimum pension becomes BGN 467, which also includes the COVID supplement in the amount of BGN 60. All occupational pensions granted until December 31, 2021 are increased by 10%. The additional amounts (COVID supplements) and individual compensatory amounts paid to pensioners with a labor activity pension as of June 30 are included in the amount of the pension they receive after applying the 10% update.

Second-class toll roads

From July 1, second-class roads will be paid for heavy goods traffic, and the amount of tolls for motorways and first-class roads will increase in two steps. Cars between 3.5 and 12 tons, depending on their eco-category, will pay between 6 and 9 cents per kilometer traveled on the highway.

New roaming rules

From the beginning of the month, the new improved regulation on roaming comes into force. It extends until 2032 Roaming at Home, the scheme that allows travelers in the EU and EEA to call, text and use the internet abroad without extra charges. The new rules will also bring significant benefits for EU businesses and citizens who will benefit from better roaming conditions, providing the same quality of mobile services abroad as at home.

The ceiling in 2022 will be 2 euros per 1 GB of mobile data, falling each year thereafter to reach 1 euro per 1 GB from 2027 onwards. Voice calls will be 0.022 €/m in the period 2022-2024 and 0.019 €/m from 2025 onwards. And for announcements – 0.004 €/SMS in the period 2022-2024 and 0.003 €/SMS from 2025 onwards. In addition, the new rules will improve access to early calls throughout the EC and will ensure the provision of clear information about the races that may be subject to additional charges.

Discount per liter of fuel

From the beginning of the month, the state will compensate with 25 cents for every liter of fuel filled. The changes are part of the update of the state budget for 2022 and are one of the anti-crisis measures proposed by the government.

Submission of declarations for targeted aid for heating

The acceptance of applications-declarations for the allocation of targeted assistance for heating for the upcoming winter season 2022/2023 has begun. Applications can be submitted until October 31 in person at the “Social Assistance” Directorates (DSP) at the current address or at specially organized for the purpose receptions, through the System for secure electronic delivery, signed with a personal identification code of the National Social Security Institute or with a qualified electronic signature, as well as through a licensed postal operator.
