At Monday’s press conference, Sparta revealed its season squad and announced a new captain. Ladislav Krejčí Jr. will take over from Bořek Dočkal. How did Tomáš Rosický justify it?
Sparta goes into the new season with a much changed team. Five reinforcements arrived, all incoming players are Czechs, Jan Kuchta and Jaroslav Zelený are even members of the senior national team. In addition, of course, the new Danish implementation team.
Letenští will go into the season with a new captain, defensive midfielder Ladislav Krejčí Jr. Although he is only 23 years old, he already has a firm place in the starting line-up and has the main say in the cabin.
“He clearly has all the prerequisites. When I bought him, someone said I was crazy to buy a guy from the second division. Láďa is an excellent example that diligence, work and love for football can lead you to have a good career and become the captain of Sparta.” said on press conference sports director of Sparta Tomáš Rosický.
He takes over the tailor’s tape from Bořek Dočkal, who decided to end his professional career after the last season. It will not be unusual for the national team midfielder, he has already been the captain a few times in Dočkal’s absence.
“Bořek is definitely an inspiration for me, but so are other captains that I have experienced, both in Sparta and perhaps also in Brno. But I also got this role because of who I am, so I want to stay myself.” explained Krejčí.
Krejčí has been joining Sparta since the summer of 2019, when the Leten team paid 310,000 euros for him from the then second division club Zbrojovce Brno. However, the high sum for an unproven player quickly paid off, and after three years, Krejčí is one of the best midfielders in the league.
However, at the beginning of the year, the captain will not help his teammates much, because he is healing his injured back. Who wears the anti-Viking belt instead of him? Dávid Hancko offers himself, also a leader and one of the most experienced players in the squad.
