Right now, Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan team have a target on their backs. This week, with the unveiling of the second round of college football playoff standings, the Wolverines find themselves in 6th place in the standings. The curious thing about it, however, is that Michigan is one step ahead of Michigan State, despite the Spartans claiming the head-to-head victory earlier this season.
That fact, along with the statement and rationale by CFP committee chairman Gary Barta, caught everyone’s attention – for all the wrong reasons and put Michigan in the crosshairs.

Now the Wolverines and Harbaugh are heading to Beaver Stadium to take on Penn State – who they’ve had mixed results against. Harbaugh is 3-3 against the Nittany Lions and has lost the last two games to Penn State, including at home last year.
But, Harbaugh’s team have scored points against Penn State in the past, scoring 42 and 49 in two of their three wins and could do the same this time around if running back Blake Corum is healthy and the quarterbacks. JJ McCarthy and Cade McNamara hold on to the ball.

The Nittany Lions have been outside the top two standings of the playoffs, despite two top-20 wins and two of their three top-20 losses. They’ll be looking to enter the third installment of the standings with an upset against Michigan, which will likely come through wide receiver Jahan Dotson and quarterback Sean Clifford.
