No derogation for Ferrari and other car brands: the stop of the European commission, what changes from 2035 for cars

The stop comes from the spokesperson for the European Commission and it is one that leaves little hope. Tim McPhie speaks clearly and does so by closing the door to the Italian proposal: “The exceptions in force today will be closed by 2030“. The exceptions he talks about are those relating to car manufacturers that produce from one thousand to ten thousand vehicles a year and refer to the rules on polluting vehicles, with the sales and production ban from 2035. It all stems from the minister’s words to ‘Bloomberg’ of the ecological transition Roberto Cingolani who spoke of discussions with the European Commission for niche cars, supercars like Ferrari and Lamborghini, as they need more time to change production. A discussion that according to the spokesman of the European Commission does not exist.

From 2035 the European Commission provides for a stop to the sale of polluting vehicles: therefore only zero emission vehicles will be allowed. The minister’s attempt Cingolani to extend the deadline for luxury vehicles does not seem to have breached, at least according to what was declared by the spokesman of the Commission: “The exceptions that are in force today and that concern car manufacturers that produce between one thousand and ten thousand vehicles a year will be removed by 2030“.

Currently the luxury car sector has not had to comply with regulations to limit emissions but now things are changing: “All vehicles will have to make their contribution to achieving the goal“. Even supercars will therefore have no choice but to adapt. From 2035, the sale of vehicles that will not produce Co2 will no longer be allowed and there are no exceptions.
