According to the data provided by the deputy defender, Édgar Ríos Parquet, the first step that a person who wishes to file an amparo to access the anticovid vaccine must take is to contact the line 133 of the Ombudsman’s Office and will receive assistance from an assigned advocate.

“As the Ombudsman’s Office, what we do first is to verify whether or not the person has the means to pay for a lawyer; If he doesn’t have one, we make him sign an affidavit in this regard and we start the paperwork, ”said Ríos, in conversation with ABC Color.
“We analyze the situation of those who resort and if they are really in a special state of vulnerability, either due to underlying disease or disability, a confirming certificate, diagnosis, medical condition and prompt judicial intervention is necessary to quickly access vaccination, we proceed to the procedures ”, he explained.

Ríos specified that it is analyzed case by case if there is a severity that makes it necessary for the vaccination measure to be urgent and the danger that the delay of immunization represents in the life of the person in case they acquire the coronavirus.
On the other hand, he clarified that people who have the means to access a lawyer privately can carry out the procedures directly in the courts without having to go through the Ombudsman’s Office.

Once the case is presented, the court issues an order and prompts the Ministry of Health to provide the affected person with the vaccine.
