West Java Health Office Asks Residents to Report If You Find Symptoms of Monkeypox

PEOPLE’S MIND – The West Java Health Office urges the public to be more vigilant and report if there is anything suspicious in the vicinity with symptoms monkey pox or Monkeypox. This is of course to speed up handling.

Symptoms monkeypox usually fever, severe headache, muscle aches, backache, weakness, swollen lymph nodes (in the neck, armpit or groin) and rash or skin lesions.

The rash usually begins within one to three days of the fever. The rash or lesions on the skin develop from red spots like smallpox, blisters filled with clear fluid, blisters filled with pus, then harden or scab and fall off.

The number of lesions in one person can range from a few to thousands. The rash tends to be concentrated on the face, palms and soles.

The rash can also be found on the mouth, genitals, and eyes. Rash monkeypox sometimes mistaken for syphilis or herpes.

Symptoms usually last between 2-4 weeks and usually resolve on their own. However, in some individuals, it can lead to medical complications and death. Anyone with symptoms monkeypox or who have been in contact with someone who is infected monkeypox must contact or visit a health care facility and seek advice from a health professional

Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the West Java Health Office, dr. Ryan Bayusantika Risnandi said, however, until now the case monkey pox from West Java has not been found, including in Indonesia in general.

On the one hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared an outbreak monkey pox as a global health emergency on Saturday 23 July 2022 last week. This decision came after the case monkey pox reaching thousands in dozens of countries.
