Whether telling, speaking, writing, translating – language is always access to and at the same time an indicator of participation in society. “Weltenschreiber – The literature education program for children and young people“Wants to enable young people to actively participate in our society through artistic forms of expression. The aim is to get children and young people enthusiastic about literary writing and to anchor artistic practice in literature houses, in school lessons and at universities as a method of cultural education in the long term. Teachers are offered an 18-month advanced training course on literary writing in the classroom. In close cooperation between schools, teachers and well-known authors, there are also (half) year-round writing workshops that are integrated into regular German lessons. In addition to supporting projects, there are additional seminars for teaching literature at training centers for young authors.
The program focuses on the methods of literary writing because, in addition to the ability to speak and express themselves, they also promote (self-) reflection and empathy for other ways of thinking and acting and enable children and young people to develop their own point of view.
