Weighing in at nearly 100GB, Flight Simulator delivers impressive performance on Xbox Series S

Update (7/26/2021) – GS

As announced no painel to Microsoft on E3, Flight Simulator, one of the oldest flight simulators in the world, will finally be released on the new Xbox Series S/X.

If you want to test the game on your console, will have to reserve nearly 100GB of storage, but it seems that the high file size is rewarded by dazzling performance, even on the most economical console.

Some users were able to test the game in advance and posted on YouTube some videos showing the game being played on an Xbox Series S and the result is impressive.

Through the video posted by Tom Warren of The Verge, we see the game running at 1080p and 30fps on the console. According to Warren’s opinions, the title has some bugs that should be fixed in the coming months, but the journalist says that the level of detail and the quality of the portability to the console is indisputable.

O Microsoft Flight Simulator (MFS) will be released for the consoles Xbox Series X/S next July 27th and gamers will need to reserve ample storage space on their consoles to be able to fly around.

According to Flight Simulator page on Game Pass, the game will take up about 97.2 GB of space on the consoles’ SSD on your initial installation.

For comparison, an Xbox Series S owner, which has a 512GB SSD, will need to detach about 20% of the storage to keep the MFS installed. On the X Series, which has 1 TB of available space, the impact will be smaller.

O MFS was released for PC in August of last year requiring 150GB free space for installation on Steam and 127GB on Microsoft Store. After various updates, the files have been reduced to around 83GB.

With that, the files fromthe consoles will be 15GB heavier than PCs. Many players expected a further optimization with respect to space needed on next-gen Xbox, but future updates may improve this requirement.
