Weekend events 20 – 22 January in Brescia and its province: what to do on Saturday and Sunday

A great weekend is coming, that of the official inauguration of the year of “Brescia Bergamo Capital of Culture”. Eyes focused on the city, therefore: after the institutional ceremony at the Teatro Grande on Friday evening, in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, over the weekend it will be time for celebrations in the square and in the museums.

On Saturday, from 17.30 to 19, a gala-concert will be held in Piazza della Loggia with the participation of some of the main artists of the Brescia music scene. Led by Ambra Angiolini, the event will take place on a large stage scenically integrated into the “Loggia”. Important artists such as Francesco Renga, Fausto Leali, Frah Quintale, ComaCose, Mr. Rain and many others will perform. Personalities from the world of entertainment and culture will also be present.

In the evening, starting at 20, the party will also insist on Piazza Vittoria, transformed into a monumental installation of images, lights and music with a “multimedia aquarium” theme and crowned by a show of aerial dances, fireworks and video projections spread.

The installation will also be usable on Sunday, when the doors of all the places of culture will open in the city. Exceptionally theatres, museums, cinemas, libraries, foundations and many other institutions will be open to the public and will host exhibitions, conferences and exhibitions.

As far as the province is concerned, the traditional gastronomic circuit called “Piglets“, which sees “his majesty” the pork as the protagonist on the menus of 12 restaurants participating in the initiative, while in Castelcovati the “Magnificent Historic Crib” can still be visited at the church of Sant’Alberto in front of the parish church; among moving statuettes, lights and landscapes, it is a truly unique spectacle. Just beyond the ‘border’, we finally point out the “Antiques and Modern Art Market” of Valeggio sul Mincio: born in the now distant June of 1994, the event takes place in Piazza Carlo Alberto and in the adjacent streets, boasting about a hundred exhibitors presenting high quality items, including objects of various kinds, clothes, furniture and collectible rarities.

The complete list of events is available on our page “What to do in the city“, but – like every week – we have chosen the best ones especially for you: here is our selection, and Happy New Year everyone!
