In the past week, nineteen corona patients reported to Dutch hospitals. That’s an average of almost three a day. For comparison: in Belgium in the same period there were an average of fourteen admissions per day.
Seven people died of covid-19 in the Netherlands last week, RIVM reports. That was down from the previous week. There are still nine people with covid-19 in intensive care units, six less than a week earlier. The number of patients in normal hospital wards also fell further, to ninety.
However, the fear of RIVM and hospital directors is that these numbers will rise again in the slightly longer term. The corona tests of the GGDs showed last week that the virus is on the rise again. The number of positive tests doubled almost, albeit at a significantly lower level than in April. However, there was much less testing then.
