Heavy rainfall and hail fell on Saturday on the west of Switzerland. Winds of near 80 km/h have been measured in Aigle (VD) and Sion (VS).

Violent storms struck on Saturday some areas of the country, particularly in French-speaking Switzerland, affected by heavy rainfall, and hail. Thunderstorm cells were formed in a very short time, explained in the evening Meteonews in a press release.
A depression of the altitude was returning from the humid air and unstable in a current of the south in the direction of Switzerland. With a kiss on the cheek in Plain and the south-west wind blowing more and more strong from France, a convergence zone was formed, which resulted in a first storm front on the lake geneva region.
Strong winds, with gusts reaching 70 to 90 km/h, blew, in some places, particularly in Aigle (VD) (83 km/h), le Bouveret (VS) (81 km/h) or Sion (VS) (79 km/h). The front is then moved to the east of Switzerland.
