Weather, snow on the plains from Turin to Bologna. Acqua alta, Mose in action in Venice

Yellow alert in Piedmont

The regional agency for environmental protection (ARPA) has issued a yellow alert for the southern areas of the region. The low pressure, down from Denmark, has led to a worsening of the weather since yesterday. The heaviest snowfall in the Cuneo area: 15-20 centimeters in Borgo San Dalmazzo, 10 in Alba. First snow in Bologna

The Municipality of Bologna informs that, as per Piano Neve, “35 salt spreaders have come out (mainly in the hills but some also in the plains) and 50 blades in the hills” and recommends driving caution.

Venice, Mose in action

The Mose was raised this morning in Venezia to protect the city fromhigh water which at sea will reach a maximum of about 120 centimeters – revised forecast compared to the initial 130 – around 10.45. With the system currently raised, explains the Municipality’s Tide Center, the water level is 107 cm above the dams, the 60 instead in the internal lagoon, or the least touched around 5, and historical city is therefore dry. Warning for snow and ice in Sardinia on Wednesday night and for the whole day of Thursday, communicates the regional directorate of Civil Protection.
