If you have been detected by the speed camera, the Ennepe-Ruhr district’s fine department will accuse you of exceeding the permitted speed of 130 km / h outside of built-up areas. It takes approx. 4 weeks to receive a hearing, if you do not react appropriately, you will receive a fine within the next four weeks. Here, however, it is worth hiring an experienced defense attorney to avoid the impending fine, points or driving ban. There can be many reasons for the success of an objection. At this point, it is almost always the weaknesses of the PoliscanSpeed laser measuring device used.
This has been one of the most controversial measuring devices in Germany since it was first used. The software has now been replaced by the manufacturer. However, the characteristic weaknesses in determining the speed have remained.
The measurement method is simply explained. Laser beams are continuously emitted in bundle form. The arriving vehicle reflects this and sends it back to the speed camera. This allows him to determine the travel time for the entered route and thus calculate the speed. If the limit value is exceeded, the camera is triggered.
But errors are inevitable here, even according to simple physical laws. The bundle shape ensures that the light rays expand. These can therefore be reflected back from different body parts at the same time. The speed camera registers them as being reflected by a single part. This falsifies the time measurement and thus also the speed calculation to the detriment of the person concerned. This serial error can also be present in your measurement.
Assignment difficulties arise in overtaking maneuvers, oncoming vehicles, driving in convoy and similar traffic situations. If these are found, the measurement cannot be used.
The measuring officers very often cause set-up errors (such as the incorrect setting of the scan angle) or do not evaluate the measured data precisely. That is why the manufacturer calls for staff to be trained in its operating instructions before the first use. If this is not documented in the file, the measurement cannot be assessed as accurate.
Has the calibration of the device expired (which is not infrequently the case). so the entire series of measurements is canceled. These and other errors can be found when evaluating your raw measurement data and measurement protocols.
