Offenbach / Geislingen an der Steige (dpa / lsw) – The inhabitants of Baden-Württemberg were able to enjoy the last weekend of October in fantastic summer weather. Record values were reached at some weather stations on Saturday, as announced on Sunday by the German Meteorological Service (DWD). In Stötten, which belongs to Geislingen an der Steige (district of Göppingen), 25.2 degrees were measured, said Markus Bösel of the DWD, referring to preliminary data.
This is the October highest recorded since this station was established southeast of Stuttgart in 1947, he said. The other stations where the record values were recorded were set up much later. If you look at the last third of October, a new high of 26.2 degrees for this period was recorded on Saturday in Munich. According to provisional data from the DWD, 25.7 degrees were measured at Ellwangen on Sunday, but that’s not an unusually high reading for the October measuring station.
But with October, at the beginning of the week, the unusually high autumn temperatures also end. For Monday, the DWD in Baden-Württemberg has forecast maximum temperatures from 15 degrees below the fog to 21 degrees on the Rhine and Neckar. Local rain is expected on Tuesday night. On All Saints’ Day, temperatures will likely remain below 20 degrees. Storm gusts threaten the peaks of the Black Forest. Wednesday should be mostly dry but a little cooler.
