Mainz / Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) – The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of snow and slippery conditions in the higher elevations of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. On Saturday afternoon, snow could fall above 600 to 700 meters. In addition, there is sometimes a refreshing wind in the mountains. According to the meteorologists, the snow line is likely to drop to 400 to 500 meters in the evening.

It could therefore fall between one and five centimeters of fresh snow in areas. In the night of Sunday, the snowfall is expected to decrease. The temperatures should drop to values between zero and minus two degrees, which should cause frost. According to the weather service, there is a risk of ice on the roads, especially in the mountains.
