Weather – Offenbach am Main – Not enough rain in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania – panorama

Schwerin / Offenbach (dpa / mv) – April was also too dry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. With ten liters of rain per square meter, the northeast was still below the national average, the German Weather Service (DWD) said in its preliminary monthly balance on Wednesday. The values would also be well below the 42 liters of precipitation from the internationally valid reference period from 1961 to 1990. There was also 280 hours of sunshine – 133 hours more than the reference period.

According to the DWD, April was too dry for the twelfth year in a row across Germany. In connection with the drought, the weather service also points out the increased risk of forest fires. In April, a fire caused by drought near Krakow am See (Rostock district) would have destroyed four hectares of forest. With an average of 9.1 degrees Celsius, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania was the second coolest federal state in April. It was only colder in Schleswig-Holstein.
