According to the DWD, April was too dry for the twelfth year in a row across Germany. In connection with the drought, the weather service also points out the increased risk of forest fires. In April, a fire caused by drought near Krakow am See (Rostock district) would have destroyed four hectares of forest. With an average of 9.1 degrees Celsius, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania was the second coolest federal state in April. It was only colder in Schleswig-Holstein.
