Weather – Offenbach am Main – Autumn in MV: warm, dry, little sun – panorama

Offenbach / Rostock (dpa / mv) – The so-called meteorological autumn in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was, as in all of Germany, significantly warmer than the long-term average, the reference period from 1961 to 1990. The northeast reached an average temperature of 11 degrees, the average is around 9 degrees, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Monday in Offenbach in its preliminary balance. With a rainfall of around 125 liters per square meter, which is 20 liters less, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was the second driest federal state. Autumn in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was also stingy with the sun. With more than 330 hours of sunshine, there were 18 hours more than in the reference period, but the northeast was also the second least sunshine state.

The DWD experts understand the meteorological autumn to be the months of September, October and November, in contrast to the calendar autumn. This started on September 22nd and lasts until December 21st. So the calculations are easier for the meterologists, said weather service spokesman Andreas Friedrich. Winter weather in December is also more typical than autumn weather and is therefore less suitable for the meteorological season of autumn.

Nationwide, this autumn, with an average temperature of 10.3 degrees, was the fourth warmest in Germany since weather records began in 1881. Only 2006 recorded an average of 12 degrees, 2012 with an average of 11.1 degrees and 1982 with 10, 4 degrees in the months of September, October and November a warmer autumn.
