US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said he will not stop asking the Chinese to reopen lines of communication, after the US military shot down a Chinese balloon, allegedly carrying out surveillance across the United States, earlier this month.
“When something happens, they (China) tend to somehow shut down their military communication channels,” Austin told NBC News.
“I think this is dangerous, but it won’t stop me from continuing to encourage them to open the lines of communication. I think it’s the right thing to do,” Austin said.
Earlier this month, the US Department of Defense (The Pentagon) confirmed that several unidentified aerial objects had been shot down, including a Chinese balloon working in the field of scientific research, especially in meteorological studies.
