We were warned for after the Christmas holidays

What is very disturbing for us is what is happening with the coronavirus in France and Italy, where a new subvariant has appeared and has been “moving” very progressively upwards. This is a new subvariant of Omicron, said mathematician Prof. Ognyan Kunchev of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in an interview with BTA.

This is how he answered a question about whether the COVID-19 pandemic is ebbing and ending, or vice versa, after there has been an increase in the number of infected cases in China. According to prof. Ognyan Kunchev, this new subvariant of Omicron is not yet available in Germany and Austria, but will appear after the Christmas holidays, when many people gather in one place and if the restrictions are not respected.

“The new subvariant is slightly more contagious than the previous ones, but there is not much mortality, or it is the same as regular Omicron. This new variant is relatively mild in the infected, but there are many cases of mild COVID-19 and after a month or two thrombosis and blood clots appear, as well as disorders of the autonomic nervous system. This is in patients with a mild form of COVID-19, but it turns out to be very insidious, and after they get sick they are unblocked that a person did not even have.It is very dangerous when thrombi or blood clots occur,” explained Prof. Kunchev.

People who have comorbidities should take precautions and wear protective masks. When asked whether the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, the large number of people returning to our country from abroad and the lack of measures will not lead to an increase in coronavirus cases, Prof. Kunchev said that if you look at the number of deaths, it will become clear that since June – in just three months, 500 people have died in our country from COVID-19. That was in June, July and August, when there was a summer coronavirus “boom,” the mathematician added.
