On Monday of this week, student Ryan Lynch (19) was seen shot and killed by her three classmates on a bus on their way home from a school trip.
– They kept coming, more and more shots. We thought you were going to shoot everyone on the bus.

Three American football players were killed on Monday when Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. opened fire on a bus after a school trip to Washington. As the bus returned to the University of Charlottesville, Virginia, he shot and killed students Lavel Davis Jr., Devin Chandler and D’Sean Perry.
According to the prosecutor in the case, a witness said the perpetrator should have shot Chandler while he was sleeping.
Lynch was on the bus when the shooting occurred and says that just before the shooting he saw Jones get up and push Davis.
– After I pushed him, he said “you will always fuck me”. He said something strange like that, but he was very absurd because they hadn’t spoken to him the whole trip.
When he heard the first shot, he thought at first it was a balloon or a bag of chips popping, says Lynch Washington Post.
But when his ears started ringing and he smelled the gunpowder, he knew the sound was a shot.
Lynch says she ducked to the floor and tried to hide under a jacket and blanket. When she got off the bus, she heard people shouting “Get off the bus! We have to go!”.
A lot for himself
When Jones got off the bus, Lynch saw that his friend Lavel Davis had been shot. She says she felt a weak pulse in Davis and that she and a fellow student quickly started first aid.
He told the Washington Post he didn’t want him to die. If he were to die, he didn’t want him to feel alone and abandoned, he says.
– We’re trying to get you to help, Lavel. We’ll call an ambulance, she says she told Davis.
According to Lynch, Jones had kept a lot to himself on the trip. He tells the Washington Post that Jones originally wasn’t part of the class that went on the trip.
However, he joined because the teacher, who had Jones as a student in another subject, invited him, he says.
Previously convicted
Jones is also a former football player and earned honorable mention honors following his senior season at Petersburg High School.
For three years, he was a “football player” at Varina High School in Virginia, and was also a member of the National Honor Society student organization and president of another student organization, the Key Club.
He is now charged with three counts of murder and three counts of using a gun to commit a felony. The motive is not known.
University spokesman Brian Coy told CNN Wednesday that in September they investigated what he called a potential “misinformation issue,” in which a student allegedly overheard Jones claiming to possess a firearm.
In 2021, Jones was sentenced to a year of probation and a “small fine” for concealing weapons, reports CNN.
The three killed were players on the UVA Cavaliers football team.
The UVA Cavaliers play Coastal Carolina on Saturday. The university’s athletic director, Carla Williams, told CNN that they will soon make a decision on whether to hold the game.
