The management of the Montauban hospital center unveils the roadmap which should see the new 400-bed health establishment grow in the Albasud business area, 500 meters from the future train station, by 2030-2031. Bressols HSL.
And two! The adventure of building a new hospital continues. After the visit of Prime Minister Jean Castex and the President of the Occitanie region Carole Dega who respectively put on the table, on Monday March 14, 176 million euros and 23 million euros, the major health project carried by the Montauban hospital center has entered a second phase.
If it is far from being the last, the second stage will be just as crucial as the first in the process which should see the growth of a future health establishment of 75,000 m2, 400 beds, bringing together more than 1,700 staff. It should be operational by 2030-2031.
The choice of location was decisive. Because at the same time as releasing the financing, the visit of March 14 officially anchored the hospital of tomorrow on a site of choice of about fifteen hectares, known as “Bardonis”, located on the area of activities d’Albasud and property of Grand Montauban. A location just 500 meters from the future high-speed train station in Bressols.
The construction bill estimated at 350 million euros
For the time being, the amount of the purchase of this land has not been communicated. Even a simple order of magnitude. But the construction bill for the new hospital remains high and amounts, according to the latest estimates, to 350 million euros.
And now ? Sébastien Massip, director of the Montauban hospital center and his teams have readjusted their roadmap in order to give “deadlines that can be reasonably met. »
Next step announced: the recruitment of a programmer. “It will have a profile from hospital architecture. It will be an important player in the project. Its role will be to help professionals express their needs and write them down in the form of specifications”, indicates the director of the Montauban hospital centre.
The establishment is therefore now on the trail of the rare bird which will be selected in June and will begin its mission immediately afterwards. “It’s about preparing for the architectural competition. We are building a new hospital because it meets a need for patients and a need for comfort for professionals. You have to get the teams to project themselves onto a blank page. It’s a stimulating phase that will play out in the coming months. It’s a bit like saying to you, draw me the hospital of your dreams, but almost… Many hospital professionals will also be called upon to visit recent hospitals during this period,” notes Sébastien Massip. .
The first shovel in October 2027
Next step on the roadmap: the architectural competition in July 2024.
And three years later, in October 2027, the first big shovel should be given on the “Bardonis” site, in Albasud, with an opening in sight by 2030-2031.
By then, the management of the hospital center ensures that the agglomeration of Montauban will have completed the bypass of the city which will thus serve the future hospital. “The Bardonis site will be scalable. Beyond the right-of-way that we will use for the construction of the hospital, we will be able to attract other local services. A whole new district of Montauban is going to be developed at this location near the future LGV station, also near the new motorway interchange,” explains Sébastien Massip.
