The head of the ministry reminded that shortly after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the European Union opened its borders to grain shipments from Ukraine, with the original aim that the shipments would reach the poorer regions of the world. But instead, a significant part of Ukrainian grain flooded the markets of Eastern European countries, putting the producers of the region in an extremely difficult situation, added István Nagy.
In addition, grain treated with substances banned in the EU and genetically modified also pose serious health risks
– emphasized the minister, noting that this is why our country banned the import of Ukrainian grain. The head of the ministry pointed out: Despite this, Brussels still wants us to allow genetically modified Ukrainian grain, so the government is counting on the opinion of the Hungarians, who can also share their position on this issue during the national consultation.
