Watch Soulfly perform new song “Filth Upon Filth” in New York – Marseille News

Video footage filmed by fans of SOUL performing a brand new song called “Dirty on filth” on September 1 at the Gramercy Theater in New York City can be seen below.

Max Cavalera and his band mates have spent the last few months working on the 2018 follow-up “Ritual” To Platinum underground in Phoenix, Arizona with the producer Arthur Rizk, who has already worked with CAVALERA’S CONSPIRACY, POWER RELEASE and CODE ORANGE.

In a recent interview with Chris Annunziata more “The Metal Bear Experience” program broadcast on the 90.3 WMSC radio station, the Brazilian-born musician said about the upcoming SOUL disc: “We’re still monitoring right now. So the record won’t be released until next year. It’s a bit of a long process. Because of COVID and all, it had to be done a little bit differently. In fact, we’re going to play a song called “Dirty on filth” on this tour. It’s a song that kills. it reminds me of the old one KILLER; that resembles SLAYER “Hell awaits you” the era meets SOUL, Which is always a good thing.

“We still need to record drums,” he continued. “Right now we really only have the songs written – all the riffs. So we are still building the music. But we had a full song, which is “Dirty on filth”, and we’re gonna play that on the next tour, which is great. So people get a taste of the new record, which I think is amazing, to be able to give them a taste of it. ”

Asked if there is a general lyrical theme on the new one SOUL album, Max said: “Some [is] actually dealing with the spiritual realm and things like that, which is really cool. I think it’s always been kind of SOUL theme anyway. There is a song called ‘Animal Spirit’ it’s really cool. And there will be a few guests. I’m not going to say who they are now; I don’t want to spoil the surprise. But, again, there will be special guests singing on this record.

“[There isn’t gonna be] a general theme, ”he said. “It won’t be a themed album like maybe [SEPULTURA‘s] ‘Roots’ sounded more like a tribal themed kind of record. It looks more like a [mixture of subjects]. There’s a song about the environment and how we destroy the earth and stuff called “The damage caused”. And it went very well. So here is, [it’s] just my way of writing. It’s pretty straightforward. I’m not trying to be fancy with this. I know what I’m doing. It’s like my riffs, I know how to do them. I’m not trying to imagine them. That’s how they are – they’re simple but straightforward, and they work. And that’s what I love about it. ”

Last April, Max Recount Chris Enriquez from Saint-Vitus presents: the age of 40 this Rizk took the new one SOUL project “seriously. He said, “Hey, Max, I don’t wanna do just another one SOUL save. I want to do the best SOUL record ‘”, he recalls. ‘I was like,’ Alright. I accept the challenge. Let’s do it, man. ‘”

As for the musical direction of the new SOUL Equipment, Max said: “It’s sold out. I think it’s kind of like the best of all years. I think this is a compilation Max Cavalera 50-year overall record. [Laughs] This is what it feels like – there are old things, there are middle things, there are very SOUL vibrations. There is a lot of groove. There are a lot of fast things. ”

In December 2020, Max said to “Sappenin ‘Podcast with Sean Smith” on the process of writing songs for the new SOUL album: “What’s cool about Zyon, the way he plays the drums is he’s kinda like a wild animal – he has no restraint, man, and he just goes wild on the drums. Pure, pure, brutal drums, and I love it. This brings me back to a lot of the early records that I love – a lot of old ones BURIED stuff and CARCASS and DEATH BY NAPALM; shit out of control. So I think we have that kind of spirit on a lot of new tracks. ”

Last month, SOUL part ways with longtime guitarist Marc Rizzo due to personal differences. A permanent replacement guitarist has not yet been announced. FEAR FACTORY‘s Dino Cazares play guitar for SOUL on the current US tour. The 33 date trek will conclude in Tempe, Arizona on September 25.

In June 2020, SOUL released a new digital EP, “Live Rituel NYC MMXIX”. The effort was recorded at the Gramercy in New York on February 11, 2019 as SOUL was on tour in support of his most recent full album, “Ritual”. The audio of the EP was mixed and mastered by Charles Elliott (ABYSMAL DAWN) from Tastemaker Audio. The cover artwork consisted of live photos taken by Rodrigo Fredes.

“Ritual” was released in October 2018 via Nuclear explosion. The sequel to 2015 “Archangel” was produced, recorded and mixed by Josh Wilbur (KILLER BE KILLED, LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA).
