A video clip showed a state of panic that struck the workers inside a Turkish hospital at the moment of the devastating earthquake.

A recording of surveillance cameras in Gaziantep Hospital revealed a nurse running between the corridors trying to save children instead of escaping during the earthquake, in an act activists described as heroic.

Today, Monday, the Turkish “Yeni Shafak” website published the clip, in which the nurse, “Shima”, accompanied by her colleagues, appears as she runs to the children’s department to get those in it immediately after the earthquake and take them to a safe place.

In recent days, the Gaziantep municipality had published a similar clip from inside the same hospital for the moment nurses protected infants during the earthquake.

“We could not find words to describe the efforts of our nurses, (…) while they protected babies in the neonatal intensive care unit of our municipality during the earthquake,” the municipality said in a tweet.

It is noteworthy that the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.7, caused massive damage to the city, which is inhabited by nearly 15,000 people.

The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria last week has risen to more than 33,000.
