This was a re-inspection of the vehicle. The first time, 13 reprimands were received, which should have been eliminated within a month.

“The inspector opened the hood, put all the tools on. The engine was running at the time, he called another colleague. He said to gas, that everything is fine, but the inspector went around the car, closed the hood. I asked if everything was fine, he said no,” confused about the inspector’s refusal to perform the important part of the inspection, says Ilmars.

The inspector told Ilmārs that the car’s engine was “dead”, so the inspection would not be possible. It is true that the specialist determined that the car has the wrong exhaust just by looking, without using the necessary tools. At Ilmar’s invitation, the shift supervisor also came, who said that the motor might break down. In such a case, the responsibility should be borne by Ilmar.

Ilmars went from the technical inspection station in Riga to the branch in Ogre. The drivetrain was recognized as safe for traffic only after an hour and a half. CSDD admits that the station employees acted correctly.

“The technical inspection inspector saw that large, black smoke was pouring out of the vehicle’s exhaust system. The rules provide that in such cases the exhaust gas test is not performed, it is related to the safety of employees, customers, as well as the condition of the vehicle. During the period between Riga and Ogri, the customer had made an unauthorized intervention in the technical parameters of the engine, it was noticed by the inspection inspector, and the customer prevented it. It is likely that all the particles that were in the exhaust system burned out between Riga and Ogri, so it was possible to pass the technical inspection,” says the CSDD representative.
