A reaction to the investigation into espionage in favor of Russia also came from Washington.
“Bulgaria is a friendly country, a NATO ally and a partner. We are closely following the investigation into the espionage allegations in favor of Russia. The United States strongly supports Bulgaria’s sovereignty and stands by the Bulgarians against these malicious actions on its territory.”
This was stated in a statement posted on Twitter by US State Department spokesman Ned Price.
