Was there life before the human era?

Jakarta

To do advanced life on Earth before the human age appeared? This question is actually often an interesting thing to discuss, because some say there may have been humans before our civilization began, but they have been destroyed and replaced by us.

Adam Frank, professor of astrophysics at the University of Rochester, gives his views on this topic in an article in The Atlantic. First, we can guess the existence of civilizations before us by tracing the earliest or the ruins of existing buildings.

“When it comes to direct evidence of industrial civilization such as cities, factories and roads, the geological record never crosses the so-called Quaternary period of 2.6 million years ago. For example, the oldest large-scale surface expanse is found. in the Negev desert, even “only” 1.8 million years “, said prof. Frank.

Predictions about the existence of the first humans on Earth are still questionable. However, (ancient) humans are believed to have existed in the Quaternary period or at the end of the Neozoic era.

But, if we try to explore further – let’s say there was life before us – it is possible that the building is now reduced to dust.

So what can be used as a reference point to find evidence of the existence of life before humans? It is possible to do research on sediments on Earth. However, who can say for sure how long these sediments can last?

Professor Frank added that, apart from sediments, evidence of the existence of humans before us could be traced by the traces of emissions released to Earth. Interestingly, at 56 million years ago, the Earth passed the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM). During the PETM, the planet’s average temperature rose up to 15 degrees Fahrenheit above what we experience today. In fact, typical summer temperatures at the poles reach nearly 70 degrees Fahrenheit. However, it cannot be concluded that this is due to the activities of ancient civilizations.

“Is this event an indication of an earlier industrial civilization? Almost certainly not,” he concluded.
