Warriors Start Third Quarter, Beat Celtics, Tie NBA Finals | nba

The scenario in the final stretch of the third quarter of Game 2 was similar to the same moment of Game 1. But the outcome was very different. This time, the Golden State Warriors only increased their lead, and the Boston Celtics didn’t even attempt a reaction. With the result of 107 to 88, this Sunday night in San Francisco, the NBA Finals is tied at 1 to 1.

Stephen Curry was the biggest highlight with 29 points. The star scored 14 only in the third quarter, when the Warriors made it 35 to 14. Jordan Poole scored 17, but 8 of them in the last quarter, when the duel was already decided. The other great highlight of Golden State was the defense, which stole the ball 15 times and caused most of Boston’s 18 turnovers. The visitors’ ball losses generated 33 points for the Warriors.

On the other side, Jayson Tatum had 28 points and recovered from the 12 he had scored in Game 1, but only 7 of those were in the second half. Jaylen Brown scored 17, but 13 of them were in the first period. The players did not keep up the initial rhythm. The rest of the team added up to just 43 points. The Celtics couldn’t be physical and make up for the Warriors’ excellent ball movement, which generated 40 points to 24 for rivals in the rim.

Coach Steve Kerr has never lost the opening two games of a series ahead of Golden State. The Warriors coaching staff’s adjustments were key, especially to take away space from the Celtics’ supporting players. Now, the series migrates to Boston. Game 3 takes place on Wednesday. Game 4, next Friday. The return for a Game 5 in San Francisco is guaranteed.
