Warm up: BG Göttingen against Basketball Löwen Braunschweig

The Göttingen team did not have such good memories of the first leg at the start of the season. The team led by Löwen head coach Pete Strobl screwed up the violet with a 77-96 defeat at the start of the 2019/20 season.

With only one regular season game in the books, it is early enough to judge the BBL teams. Nevertheless, it can be stated soberly that the BG Göttingen (17th) and the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig (18th) are currently on the relegation ranks of the table. The “Veilchen” conceded a 73: 100 against Ludwigsburg at the beginning, while the Löwenstädter came under the wheels 83: 111 against Oldenburg.

Team assistant Kai Winkler doesn’t actually need a home game ticket. For the games in the Sparkassen-Arena, he continues to help the team – even against Braunschweig. In the meantime, the 51-year-old is also the owner of a ghost game ticket in the “Topscorer” category – the buyer is an old friend. The former BG head coach Johan Roijakkers, as a violet supporter, had Winkler’s name put on this ticket and got him a seat neighbor. The BG team manager posted this on his Facebook page.

“Of course we would have loved to open the season with our fans. That this is not permitted now is more than a shame, ”said BG managing director Frank Meinertshagen in the run-up to the South Lower Saxony derby. “It’s a difficult situation not only financially, but also emotionally.” In order to minimize the financial losses, Veilchen fans can support the Göttingen basketball players with so-called ghost game tickets. Fans buy a symbolic ticket, but are not allowed into the Sparkassen-Arena.

For the game against Braunschweig, the BG offers tickets in five different categories: training player (10 euros), starting five (15 euros), top scorer (25 euros), MVP (50 euros), legend (100 euros). The buyer’s name and category will appear on the tickets. “Many fans have asked us how they can support the BG. We are still overwhelmed by this solidarity. The ghost game tickets are a simple solution to make a financial contribution, “said Meinertshagen before the duel against Braunschweig, which attracted more than 3000 spectators to the Sparkassen-Arena last season.

The tickets are also available at short notice as Print @ Home versions in the online ticket shop www.bggoettingen.de available.

We’ll be smarter around 10:15 p.m. – then the result should be clear. The SPORTBUZZER live ticker will be there for you from 8.15 p.m.!
