Ward 15 of Victoria Hospital confined

Converted into an isolation room, room 15 of Victoria Hospital, in Candos, has been closed since Monday, because of a patient diagnosed positive in this room. According to Dr Vasantrao Gujadhur, former Director of Health, this is a patient admitted to ENT Hospital in Vacoas who had his discharge after a few days. “On what criterion do they give discharges.” No idea.” He adds : “He then returned to Candos and was admitted to room 15. His two PCR tests being positive, he is again at the ENT. Now room 15 is closed with all patients and staff. ”

We learn that a second patient has tested positive in this room. Dr Vasantrao Gujadhur’s biggest fear concerns the measures introduced for all these people. “Will there be social distancing in a room with 20-25 patients?” Indeed, it turns out that around thirty patients and a dozen nursing staff were there.

Dr Gujadhur explains that if a person is positive in this room, the risk of contamination is higher. Remembering the radiotherapy room where several patients tested positive, he wonders: “Are we facing the same scenario? This room is still closed. ” On what criteria do positive patients have their discharge?

Speaking at the NCC press briefing on Monday, Dr Kailesh Jagutpal pointed out that international criteria are taken into account before a patient cured of Covid-19 can have his discharge. “We follow the well-established criteria and analyze other parameters. The two PCR tests must be negative and at the same time we check whether the patients have developed antibodies. “
