War in Ukraine puts the brakes on transport in EU: major shortage of drivers | Financial

Some truckers no longer leave the war-torn country, while other drivers want to return to Ukraine to defend their country.

Driver shortages are expected to increase. The international transport organization IRU estimated last weekend that about 12,000 truck drivers are currently detained in Ukraine.

Trade and logistics entrepreneurs’ association Evofenedex warns of shortages among drivers and expects to notice the consequences on all routes. Businesses expect delivery delays on all European routes.
