Want to Make a Special Processor for HP Galaxy, Samsung?

Jakarta

President Samsung Electronic TM Roh said that Samsung will make a special processor (application processor / AP) that is tailored to their Galaxy mobile device.

This information was reportedly disclosed when TM Roh spoke about the Game Optimization Services (GOS) controversy in a meeting with his employees, as quoted by detikINET from GSM Arena, Friday (8/4/2022).

During a town hall meeting held last March, a Samsung employee asked, how will the GOS controversy be resolved? TM Roh reportedly answered that question with the answer that Samsung will create a unique AP for Galaxy phones.

But unfortunately there is no further information about this processor, either fabrication, or currently in which stage of development.

GOS is the latest fairly controversial issue for Samsung. Samsung has been criticized for its excessive functionality.

Supposedly, this application function is to set game applications so that the phone does not overheat or overheat. But in reality, GOS actually limits performance in many popular non-gaming applications, such as Microsoft Office and Zoom.

Interestingly, GOS does not limit performance in benchmark applications such as 3DMark and Geekbench, aka these applications can run with full performance from the system on a chip used.

Worse, in the One UI 4.0 update, Samsung called making it difficult for users who want to disable this GOS application. Well, according to TM Roh, the GOS incident occurred because of the AP used on the Galaxy phone.

Actually, Samsung already has its own chip, namely Exynos, which is almost exclusively used by Galaxy devices (it has been used by Vivo and Meizu several times in their cellphones).

But the difference is, development Exynos may not have been made in full coordination with Samsung’s mobile device division. Even according to Ice Universe via the @UniverseIce account, the Exynos 2200 is not designed for Galaxy devices.

According to him, the relationship between the LSI (semiconductor maker) and MX (mobile division) divisions is currently limited to buying and selling relationships, even though the relationship is not close enough. Unlike Apple, which has designed the A series chip specifically for use in the iPhone and iPad.
