The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana, explained that the discounted tariff for subsidized household customers with 450 Volt Ampere (VA) and 900 VA power was initially only disbursed for three months, namely April, May and June, both for prepaid and post-paid customers. pay. However, seeing that the condition in June has not improved, this program was extended again for three months until September.
However, after being extended to September, the government saw that the pandemic was still not going to subside, so the government finally decided to extend it until the end of this year.
“This is to minimize the impact of Covid-19 by reducing the burden on our brothers and thankfully encouraging the national economy,” he explained in the Electricity Bill Easing Stimulus Webinar, Tuesday (18/08/2020).
The stimulus for household customers will be given to around 24.16 million 450 VA household customers and around 7.72 million subsidized 900 VA customers with an estimated additional subsidy amounting to Rp 12.18 trillion for this nine-month discount period. The tariff discount for 450 VA customers reaches 100% and a 50% discount for subsidized 900 VA household customers.
The government has allocated an additional electricity subsidy of up to Rp 15.39 trillion with a total beneficiary of 33.64 million subscribers as a form of handling the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic that will be felt by the community by the end of this year. The three stimuli are 50% and 100% discount rates, exemption from minimum account requirements, and exemption from expense or subscription fees.
