According to the researchers, many use the cigarette and the e-cigarette together. There is some evidence that the combination of smoking and vaping is more harmful than either of the two. And according to the researchers, there are also indications that the e-cigarette for young people can be the stepping stone to regular cigarettes. If smokers completely switch to the e-cigarette, this will provide health benefits.
The long-term effects of the e-cigarette are not yet clear. There needs to be researched longer.
According to the researchers, the government should advise against smoking e-cigarettes. State Secretary Blokhuis writes in a letter to parliament that he will see whether the government should do more to discourage use. Or should it go a step further for you?
